Heitz Cellars Napa Valley Grignolino, 2017

Brush, late summer strawberries, strawberry Jolly Rancher, mint, saddle on the nose.  Palate brings strawberry rhubarb pie vibes, layered onto a structured, well-balanced wine with pedigree.  Legendary Napa Valley producer known for their Cabernet Sauvignon still produces this gem of fun.  Grignolino is referred to as "the little strawberry" in its native Piedmont, Italy.  The Heitz family has been producing Grignolino since purchasing the estate in 1961 (the previous owner ONLY planted Grignolino!). Pronounced, green-oh-leen-oh. Rumor has it this is the last vintage the Grignolino will be bottled with the classic Heitz Cellars label.
